Sense of Direction

This is a very interesting article. Especially for me because I happen to have a terrible sense of direction. So, as with quite a few of my projects, I want to build my own version.

Design

My design is somewhat different than the above. Mainly, I'm curious to see if electodes are more efficient and accurate than vibrators. It would certainly be less bulky and, more importantly, quite interesting.

Of course, this adds the question of safety. Intentionally leading current through the body isn't really something one should do for fun. I'm hoping that the skin is sensitive enough that I'll only need a small power output (also useful for battery life). If anyone who actually knows about these things come across this page I'd be really happy if you emailed me.

Cost

Well, this all comes down to whether or not I can buy or make propper electrodes cheaply. I know where to find good and cheap electronics, including a compass sensor and LiPo batteries. Making some generall assumptions, I think I'll be able to build this for about 750kr (right now about $100 or £65).
